What is NERA?
The North East Renewables Alliance (NERA) is a strategic and commercial undertaking by NE-based and MCS accredited installers of micro-generation. NERA aims to increase the competitiveness of and growth in the North East installation supply chain by amalgamating the resources and capability of a significant number of local companies to produce a legally formed entity, NERA, that is able to bid for and deliver large scale installation projects.

A key partner in the enterprise is TADEA, the not-for-profit energy company for the North of England. It is providing NERA with executive management and administration for the tendering process and delivery of contracts. TADEA will be the contract holder but delivery will be through NERA. In line with TADEA’s business promise, NERA will provide a high quality service from the point of enquiry through to the installation of technologies.
NERA will not only support our local installers but also stimulate the market place. As a (virtual) large company it will offer a credible, high quality, alternative source of procurement for organisations planning to install large scale micro-generation technologies. NERA ia also attractive in that it offers the installation of the full range of technologies.

Background.
NERA is a response to changing market conditions. It is the manifestation of the decision by a large proportion of companies in the NE to work together to compete for large installation contracts. This enables the sharing of best practice, creation of economies of scale and offer of the full range of renewable technologies. NERA will increase the awareness and visibility of the sector by virtue of it's strategic involvement with local authorities, public agencies, schools and the community. Interest in renewables, driven by Feed In Tariffs (FITs) at present and Renewable Heating Installations (RHI) , is growing rapidly with large national companies entering the market to offer advice and installation on a national basis. Their ability to advertise their products and services will quickly raise the interest levels of the public and, logically, raise the demand for installation. NERA offers a local alternative, giving North East organisations the chance to support installers from the region whilst accessing a high quality, efficient service.
