Micro CHP

Micro Combined Heat and Power (CHP) is the simultaneous production of heat and electricity in individual buildings. Effectively the micro CHP unit replaces the conventional gas central heating boiler providing heat and hot water as usual, but additionally providing some of the home's electricity needs. It is anticipated that, ultimately, micro CHP is capable of providing 20% or so of the UK's electricity generating capacity, more than is currently obtained from nuclear power.

Micro-CHP is a mass produced appliance for the single family home, though it is also applicable for other applications, such as small hotels, small high street retail outlets, commercial buildings such as small offices and multi-family apartment blocks. It is sized for the needs of the household and will, in the majority of cases, be installed on the customer side of the meter.
